Medical First Responder/Emergency Medical Responder

MFR

This course is free to all in-county providers (millage dollars at work for you) and only $250.00 for out-of-county providers. It is designed to provide students with the core skills necessary to sustain life and prevent further injury at the scene of an emergency until more advanced help arrives. The MFR (EMR) course covers basic safety at the scene of an emergency, fundamentals of patient assessment, basic airway control methods, emergency splinting and hemorrhage control and other specialty topics. 


Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the National Registry MFR (EMR) exam. Students who successfully complete this course and pass the National Registry exam will meet MDHHS requirements to apply for an MFR (EMR) license. 


Prerequisites: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply for a license with MDHHS after successful program completion
  • Must be a high school graduate or have your GED
  • Healthcare Provider CPR
