This class is a Hybrid format, spanning over 9 weeks, with specified days being seated in the classroom. There will be both virtual and seated classes.
Instructor-Coordinator program
The Instructor-Coordinator program at Sanilac Medical Services Inc, is designed to prepare EMS Providers to become EMS Instructors, prospective candidates must have held a Michigan EMS license and have been practicing at the current license level for no less than a full 3 years (36 month). In addition to the teaching component of the Instructor-Coordinator program, students are also prepared on the proper documentation and management of an EMS education program.
The entry-level EMS educator engages in learner-centered, outcome-based practices articulated by the curriculum. Successful completion of the Instructor-Coordinator program at Sanilac Medical Services Inc, provides the opportunity for building and developing teaching skills on a solid foundation that can lead to higher levels of instructional and administrative expertise.
Successful completion of the Instructor-Coordinator program is designed to prepare participants to practice responsibly as an entry-level EMS instructor, once licensed.
EMS Instructor-Coordinator Training
The goal of the Instructor-Coordinator training offered at Sanilac Medical Services Inc, is to prepare competent students to instruct and evaluate EMS providers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.
This program fulfills the initial training for the EMS Instructor-Coordinator, adhering to the MDHHS Instructor-Coordinator guidelines, and NHTSA National Education Standards.

Licensure
EMS instructor-coordinators are required to obtain a license to work in the State of Michigan. This program exceeds the US DOT’s EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum and is approved by the MDHHS.
This program fulfills the initial training for the instructor-coordinator following the NHTSA National Education Standards and instructor guidelines, consistent with employer expectations for the entry-level EMS provider. Sanilac Medical Services, Inc. has determined that its instructor-coordinator program curriculum is sufficient to fulfill educational requirements for licensure in the State of Michigan only. No educational determinations have been made for any other state, district or US territory in regard to licensure requirements.
